“Companions” depicts two cardinal birds, one male and female, perched on a sunflower.  Both animals seem to be hanging out and considering their surroundings.  

The idea for this print came from a male and female cardinal that made their home outside my front window.  There is an old tale that says when a cardinal bird visits a person it is actually one of their relatives that has passed away.  I loved the idea that one of my beloved ancestors is watching over me as I deal with chronic pain.
